Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information giftmagic.io collects when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.

What we collect

• Your gift brief. The details you enter — recipient label (e.g. "mum"), interests, occasion, budget and region — so we can generate recommendations. You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, address or payment details.
• Wishlists. If you create or share a wishlist, we store the list contents and an anonymous token (in your browser) used to manage it.
• Usage & device data. Standard analytics such as pages viewed, approximate region, browser type and referring site, via cookies.

How we use it

• To generate and display gift recommendations.
• To operate, maintain and improve the site.
• To measure traffic and understand how the service is used.
• To attribute affiliate clicks so partner retailers can credit referrals.

Cookies & tracking

We use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and, when you click through to a retailer, affiliate networks may set cookies to attribute a purchase. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may work less well.

Service providers we share data with

We rely on a few third parties to run the site, each acting on our behalf:

• Supabase — hosting, database and edge functions.
• Anthropic — AI used to generate gift ideas from your brief.
• Search providers (e.g. Serper) — to find matching products.
• Affiliate networks & retailers (e.g. Amazon) — when you click an outbound link.
• Google Analytics — site analytics.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep brief and usage data only as long as needed to operate and improve the service, then delete or anonymise it. Shared wishlists persist until removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your information. Contact us at hello@giftmagic.io and we'll help.

Children

giftmagic.io is not directed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
